MediaRemote for Windows
=======================

Control this PC's media playback, volume, and windows from the MediaRemote
iPhone app over your local Wi-Fi network.

HOW TO RUN
----------
1. Unzip this whole folder anywhere (e.g. Documents or Program Files).
Keep all files together - the .exe needs the DLLs and the "data" folder
   next to it.
2. Double-click media_remote_windows.exe
3. The app opens a small window and also lives in the system tray
(bottom-right, near the clock). Closing the window keeps it running in
the tray; use the tray icon's "Quit" to exit.

FIRST-TIME SETUP
----------------
- Windows Firewall: the first time you run it, Windows may ask whether to
allow the app to communicate on your network. Choose "Allow access" (at
least for Private networks). Without this, your iPhone won't be able to
  connect.
- Make sure your iPhone and this PC are on the SAME Wi-Fi network.

PAIRING YOUR IPHONE
-------------------
1. Open the MediaRemote app on your iPhone and start scanning for devices.
2. This PC appears in the list by its computer name.
3. Tap it. A 6-digit PIN appears in the Windows app window.
4. Enter that PIN on the iPhone to approve the connection.
5. After the first pairing, the iPhone reconnects automatically - no PIN
   needed next time.

TROUBLESHOOTING
---------------
- iPhone sees the PC but won't connect: confirm both are on the same Wi-Fi
(not a guest network), and that you allowed the app through Windows
  Firewall.
- Nothing appears in the iPhone's list: make sure the app is running (check
the system tray) and that your Wi-Fi router isn't blocking device-to-device
traffic ("AP isolation" / "client isolation" turned off).
- SmartScreen warning on launch: because this build isn't code-signed,
Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click "More info" ->
  "Run anyway".

This app runs entirely on your local network. It does not send anything to
the internet. The connection is encrypted (TLS) and paired devices are
remembered securely on this PC.
